My wedding was about 30K and we had 150
I’ve heard that the average of a wedding is 20K, but it all depends on where, when, how many people, religion and I guess family cultures.

$1500 in 1989 (95 guests, off the rack dress)
$2300 in 1997 (35 guests at a private resturant, off the rack dress)
$5600 in 2008 (85 guests at a community hall, I cooked the food, my MIL made my dress)

None of my weddings were catered, none had elaborate flowers, I refuse to pay thousands of dollars for a dress.

The wedding is about uniting with your mate. The reception is for your guests to celebrate your marriage. It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money.

    $12,000 in 2008 for 50 people.

We had our ceremony in a park. Included champagne and beer, jazz trio, etc for an hour.

Our reception was at a really nice restaurant and included canapes, entree (three choices), main (three choices) and our wedding cake as dessert, plus premium wines, soft drink and beer. We had a DJ for music.
