I have been engaged for a year now and i want to start saving for a wedding i want quite a big one with an exotic honeymoon how much do you think the whole thing will cost roughly?

Weddings come in all shapes, sizes and price ranges!!!!

How much you wedding costs ranges on where you live, the number of guests you have and the formality of your event.

The average for weddings is 27K, I believe. But, that depends on where you live.

I’m from a suburb in the Northeast, it costs at least 18K-20K to have a basic buffet style dinner for 100-130 people. Plus, the dress, pictures, etc. The cheapest I’ve seen around here is $75 per person. Although, I did see a place about 1 1/2 -2 hours away from me, it was like $60 a plate. Which is unheard of here. But, it was way to far for us to travel and for the guests to travel.

Again, that’s where I live. I’ve seen people from other states post and say they are paying $45-$50 a head.

It really is regional.

I am spending 75k on a wedding for 175 people at a 5 star hotel in NYC on a saturday evening with a 5 course dinner cocktail hour, lots of flowers, and custom made invitations which I love, but really arent necessary at all, so thats like 6000 you can expect not to spend.

No honeymoon though, we have to work.

Weddings are cheap. It’s the divorces that are expensive.

    Hi and congratulations!

It all depends on where your wedding will be. Do you live in a city? Or do you live in a rural area? The prices vary widely.

The average cost of a wedding in the U.S. is $25,000. Many come in under that and many go over that. And, add on to that an exotic honeymoon….so you are probably talking at least $20-$25,000 or more!

honey i was watching oprah and they had some couples battling over how big there wedding should be. I know u want it to be special and it will but it doesn’t matter how awsome or big it is it’s all about the partnership and the love you share for you significant other. Well on the show these women’s weddings cost roughly 40 thousand – 50 thousand dollars.

I got married for $35. Justis of the peace in the living room of my apartment and have been married for 19 years. My brother spent $25,000. for 1 and a half years of bliss. My best advice. go cheep. Put your money in a mutual fund and be ready for retirement. $25,000. at 6%(youcan get better) will be worth about $800,000. in 30 years

It all depends on your area, the size of your wedding party, the day, the time, the location, the number of guests, and perhaps the overall theme. Most websites say $20,000 is the ideal cost nowadays, but I say you can do it for a lot less than this. Right now, I have a $7500 budget for my wedding which is set for July 31, 2009. We decided to have it early (1pm) and we are having a lunch buffet. The guest list has about 75 guests and we are using silk flowers that look absolutely beautiful. Our theme is a beach theme and we just want it to be a very casual and fun event. Then we are taking a week long cruise to Jamaica since we believe we will probably end up spending less than the budget we have set. We are having the ceremony and reception at the same place and the catering company gave us a great package deal since we chose an earlier time. Bottom line, you CAN have your dream wedding at a reasonable budget if you work hard to cut costs.

We’re spending $30,000 for 120 people for our wedding in September. We’re doing an outside ceremony, reception at a hall, formal black tie dinner, open bar. This does not include our honeymoon.

That all depends where you live! Canadian average is $25,000, $15,000 where I live, but since I’m crafty, can do mine for $8,000 (250 people, 3pm wedding, supper, dance and midnight lunch). In the USA, I’ve heard it’s much higher especially in California, Texas, and New York (up to $100,000). If you budget, research your main expenses (caterer, photography, flowers, cake, DJ/band) and don’t take the first offer, you can really keep it reasonable. With my caterer, I didn’t want the cheescake for dessert as we will have the wedding cake, so they gave me the veggie upgrade I asked for and perogies (which were and additional $1.50 per person) for the same price. Don’t feel like you have to go with a studio photographers. They often charge double the price for very old fashion photographs. Freelance photographers charge a lot less and do much more contemporary, fun photos. Skimp on areas such as centerpeices, monogramed napkins, invitations (print your own) as I ave NEVER heard someone say "did you see those invites!". It’s more about the food, music and the pictures you will treasure for the rest of your life. Good luck and best wishes!!

we got married in 2004 and spend 3,000 but a lot of our stuff was done for us . if we would have had to pay for it all it would have cost us around 10 or 15 ,000 ,and our wedding only 3 brides maids . thinking a big one will cost between 20-50,000.
the price of wedding is based on a lot of things ,hall ,food ,rings ,invitations ,dress ,tux ,dj ,band ,phonographer ,priest ,church guessed book ,rehearsal dinner , cake ,honey moon ,decorations , flowers for you and for tux ,blood test
where you live will say as to the cost of all of the items name above
will say this make sure you have time to get some rest before the wedding if you do not plan to get wedding planner
because it takes a lot of time and planning.

We had about 110 people at our reception. It was a beautiful wedding. After the reception hall, church, flowers, limo, photographer, videographer, invitations, favors, my dress, shoes, hair, make up, jewelry, gifts for bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, honeymoon and any other little things to include our wedding was $30,000-$35,000.

And I did alot of things myself to save money. Look for the best deals to save money!

Too much! You can do a wedding on any budget. A great resource is http://www.theknot.com It not only has a budget on there, but it also has lists of things you need to think about. Even little things that would never cross your mind. I used it for my wedding and it was great!

Depending on where you have the reception, it can cost $20 to $40 per person. The honey moon will usually run 5-6k, plus all the other stuff like your dress and his tux, etc.

I would recommend going to a bridal show and gathering all the different brochures they have there to help give you an idea.

    Good luck to you!

    First, congrats =) !!
Well if you want a big affair that’s tasteful, you can look at spending at the least 30,000, and that’s on the low end. This is all depends on your location, amount of people and of course the types of food you have. The reception is going to be where you spend the bulk of your money. An exotic honeymoon can cost upwards of 6,000 or more. I would maybe check out all the popular wedding sites, including, theknot.com; brides.com, and herecomestheguide.com. I particularly like brides.com because it they have a really nice message board and community with real brides sharing their experiences. Well hope this helps, and I hope you have a beautiful wedding!! =)
