i`m talking the cheaper sort of wedding on a budget.
any idea?
thanx.

As a wedding pro. (25 yrs), for 100 guests, I’ve done some "budget" weddings that have varied from:

4,000.00 (Outdoors, park w/pavilion w/silk flowers for the entire bridal party and throughout, catered buffet, including alcohol for guests). Here’s some sample photos of a wedding within this budget:

10,000.00 (Tropical wedding, outdoors with a beach area, hor doeurves; buffet, tiki bar [what a hit that was!] & fresh flowers throughout and bridal party)..including a boat ride for guests to/from the wedding site to the hotel. Here are a few sample photos of this wedding within this budget:

25,000.00 (Indoors, ceremony was outside in a lovely garden w/pond; indoors w/fresh flowers throughout and bridal party; 36" pillar vases w/2 doz. orchids as centerpieces; hor doeurves; a full bar; food was served to guests while at their seats [prime rib; Chilean sea bass, chicken or vegetarian])

……and up to 75,000.00 (due to no. of guests)!

Each of the ones described above included the costs of rental tables/chairs and linens.

So it varies and all workable within your budget! Best wishes on your special day and choices!

Ironically, my husband and I eloped (1,500.00) Included our announcements that we created and sent out, Fresh floral bouquet & boutonniere (that I made), dinner, our mini cake,my silk outfit, and it also including 3 days in Santa Barbara….no stress. It was lovely!

You can do a great wedding for less than $2000. It depends on how many people you want.

My wedding from rings to dresses, suits, flowers, the pastor etc cost me about $3000.00. Our rings cost about $1400. I got my dress through nordstroms.com, my daughters dress at Ross (both creme colored), my sons suit at Goodwill and yes it was stylish. My husbands suit at a suit store. I did my own music and flowers, corsages, bouteniers. My friend made out cake (she does it professionally). We had it at my old church, but we paid the pastor a $500 donation. My mother in law did the drinks. We just did paper plates and cups. We had many digital cameras there to catch pictures. This $3000 also went to pay for lodging for 20 people, and our honeymoon suite for one night. It can be done. It just depends on how fancy you want it. Our wedding was very nice and relaxed. It is nice to have a low budget wedding because then people aren’t stressing out on how to pay. It makes for a very relaxed groom and bride and parents. I would definitely choose low key over the big events any day.

More than is necessary for a nice wedding. Most people put too much into a wedding that can be a simple and beautiful event.

Well, you can get married for a couple hundred if you just want the license. For 2,000 to 5,000 you can have a nice yet practical wedding with 50 to 75 guests without feeling like you had to settle for less. If you really need the costs down…have the marriage and reception at the same place and only provide cake (don’t make it a dinner and don’t have an open bar)….you could do that for around 1,000 if you find a place that doesn’t require a bunch of decorations (like a garden).

it all depends on many factors…

    1) how many people will be there?
    2) church wedding?
    3) how many in the bridal party?
    4) band vs. dj

if you really want to do it on a tight budget, watch how many people are invited. food is a big portion of the budget, and it will cut costs if there are less people to feed.

for your dress and bridesmaid dresses, i suggest going to a bridal expo for the best deals, rather than going to a store or having them custom made.

as for the venue, community centers are A LOT cheaper than having it at a hotel.

it might be a good investment to purchase some books, or talk to a wedding planner on the best ways to do a classy wedding on a budget.

    best of luck!

cheap on a budget? look at 10k. too much? cut the guest list and the wedding party. dinner is usually about $25 per person so if you have only 100 people that $2500 plus tax and tip. (tip is usually about 15%)
cut it down to 75 people and you save $620 just on dinner.
do the flowers yourself with roses bought in bulk 123roses is a good place to look, for under $100 you can get 125 roses to do what you want with them (boquets, centerpieces, boutenniers, corsages)
get your dress second hand. alot of people are selling thier gowns that were only worn for a few hours for $500 or less! do your own stationary. if you have a printer and a computer you can design your own save the dates, invitations, programs, and rsvp cards. buy a nice paper at a stationers store (you dont want to use regular paper, get something nice). this will save you hundreds. The photographer will cost you over $1000 but I dont recomend skimping here. Im sure cousin fred with his new digital takes snapshots just fine, but does he know the fine art of wedding photography? I doubt it.

i’d say about 5,000 if you want something nice but not expensive. If you’re talking plastic table cloths folding chairs without covers and someone makes your cake that is a friend and does your pics you’re talking under 500

    I’m spending 5,000 to 6,000 with 150-200 guests.

The actual average cost of a wedding in the U.S. is 26,000. Yeah, crazy I know.

It depends on the location. Go to http://www.costofwedding.com and enter in your zip code.

Nationally, the average cost is close to $30,000. I’ve been to weddings where the couples got it down to $10,000. But it can be as low as $50 or whatever the marriage license fee is, which is all you really need to get married. The dresses/tux, flowers, invitations, photography, reception and so forth can build on that. Just budget what you can afford without borrowing and go on from there. It will be fine.

There are lots of online budgeters like theknot.com that might be helpful: http://global.theknot.com/join/toolredirect.aspx?target=http%3a%2f%2fweddings.theknot.com%2fbudgeter%2fdefault.aspx&area=budget

    Good luck!

I think you could have a beautiful wedding on a reasonable budget. Graduating from college in 2005, my wife and I had a budget of $3,500 and we were able to come in below budget.

Some of the things that really helped us save: We got married at a beautiful (local) Presbyterian church, we held our reception at the church as well. Instead of serving a formal dinner we held the wedding at 6:30 pm, and followed it with a dessert reception. We had Cheese Cake delivered from the Cheese Cake factory. Also, we hired a wedding planner and caterer through the church to make things as easy as possible for us that night.

The only thing you are going to find a statistic on is the true calculated and reported average cost of weddings these days which is around $28k.
Here is just one source for that figure – – –
    http://www.tickledpinkbrides.com/brideblog/2007/11/average-cost-of.html

BUT if you ask around here on YA you will find people who spent as little as a few hundred dollars to have their wedding.
The most important thing is that you establish how much you are able to spend and then plan a wedding around that budget. You can plan a wedding for every budget imagineable.
