I live in N.Y

It depends on what services and products you’re looking for. A photographer can run from about $4000 down to……free! We are putting disposable cameras at our reception table and for our ceremony and other important pictures we are having a friend take our pictures. We don’t want to spend money on pictures we can print out ourselves and make copies of ourselves for our family. You can make your own photo DVD as well. No need to pay someone else thousands of dollars. But it’s completely up to you. Be sensible though, try not to overdue it. Congatulations on your wedding!

I’m in Connecticut and I’ve been looking around. Most wedding photographers start at about 2K for a basic package. Usually, when you get a basic package, you have to add things on. More than likely, the basic package wouldn’t be enough hours or wouldn’t include the final prints, etc.

I’ve seen more elaborate packages (the ones that include like 6 hours, two photographers, etc) starting about about $2,500 for a lesser known photographer and running as high as $5,000 for someone more experienced/well-known.

I’ve fallen in love with one photographer and one of his packages is $3,200. But, he does amazing photos.

I’d say you will get a decent photographer for about $2,500-$3,000.

    Here’s the one I love:

Don’t know about there but in Australia, the average cost is around $2000 base price for a good one. I have heard weddings in N.Y are expensive so it’s probably a fair bit more.

Yo get what you pay for with photographers. Some will offer you everything for thousands of dollars, others will offer you the basics for a couple of hundred. Look around on the internet, and discuss your needs with a few photographers. Be sure to look at their portfolio, so you know what standard of work they can produce.

Private message me know if you need any more details or advice.

Here in TX, most photographers start no lower than $1500 typically.

To me, that’s insane. I went on craigslist (http://www.craigslist.org) and searched for photographer to find good deals. I found a good photographer for $750 (she had just moved to TX and was doing photos half off just to get started). Of course, we went to see her portfolio and we’ve recently done our engagement photos with her and they were really great. (the package included digital wedding day photos, digital engagement photos, and a photo album…more than I needed)

If you go to a local college to their fine arts department, you might be able to hire a very talented photographer for a very good price (especially if they’re young students).

If money isn’t an issue, then I would recommend just getting online searching for local photographers and many have their pricing online as well as online portfolios.

i live in upstate NY and when I was looking for wedding photographers, I saw anything from $800 up to $2500. I went with the $800 girl.. she had recently graduated from college as a photographer and had only done a few weddings at that point, so that’s why she was cheaper. but she was great and took lots of great pictures!

We married last year and our photographer was both super cool and not that expensive (less that 2,000) to start, and the photos were really beautiful. She shot another of our friend’s weddings a couple of weeks ago.

you can see her stuff @ <http://www.cameragirl.com>
