My boyfriend and I are close to getting engaged, and when we do, we want to get married within 6 months. Which means we have to book a hall immediately after getting engaged. How much would it cost to have a deejay, wedding cake, invitations, hire a justice of the peace, etc. for a nice wedding? I know it totally varies and the average is around 25K, but I would like a breakdown of how much each thing costs, if possible. Also, we would have less than 100 people at our wedding.
I should say it would be in Westchester county, which is right outside of NYC. If that helps.

The average price for "food and drink" at a reception is $185 per person in the US . . and if you live in the West Chester County/NYC area you can count on that price and possibly higher.

The reception is ALWAYS fifty percent of your total wedding cost. And it does not make a difference if you are having a breakfast in a hotel or a catered dinner at a banquet hall or a barbecue at your Grandfather’s farm.

Invitations can range from $250 – $1000 (depending the style and paper quality)

DJ can range from $400 – $1000 (you get what you pay for)

Wedding cake can range from $4.00 – $10.00 per slice (if anyone tells you that they can bake you a wedding cake for $1 – $2 per slice RUN the other way)

Officiant can range from $300 to $800 (your going to have an easier time finding a nondenominational minister than a Justice of the Peace)

Professional photographer/Wedding album . . the price can range from $1000 – $5000

The average price for a bride’s bouquet is $185 and in the NYC area the average may be $250

You’ll see once you start your planning, "nice" weddings can cost $5000 or $35000…it depends on your tastes, what style of wedding you’d like to have. Honestly, there are so many factors, it’s hard to say how much each thing costs.

as much as you want it to cost. there is no set costs for a wedding. you have to call around and get prices. the cost of one dj is going to be different for the cost of the next and the cost of the hall varies on what kind of hall you want and how many guests you want, the cake is based on how many you want to feed and if you want simple or something fancy and if its done at an independantly owned bakery or at a chain bakery, invitations based on style and how many you need. try setting a budget and calling around to get prices and see how colse to your budget you get. under 100 could mean from 2-99 people…thats a large range.

NY York State is a large place, the closer you are to NYC the more expensive it is.

My wedding was 3 years ago in NJ about 15 miles outside of NYC.

Caterer and reception hall was about $100 per person, and included cake and open bar for 5 hours. We paid for 90 people. It was a Sunday afternoon wedding. Saturday night was taken already and would have been at least $20 a person more.
    DJ $500
    Video and photography $2500.
    Flowers maybe $1000
    Wedding Dress $500
Tuxedo I bought and extras $300

It all depends on what part of NY you are from. If it is a Long Island-NYC wedding then a lot. Hudson Valley still a lot but definitely not as much as NYC.

You just have to decide on your style of wedding. Elegant, country, easy…etc. Do you want a lot of details or simple?

A good photographer can cost $3,000. But that is not something that you want to skimp on either.

have a friend video tape the wedding for. I did it for a friend.

Once you book the hall, then you the rest will come into place. You have to decide that part first to make sense of the rest of the wedding.
