I’m looking at wedding photographer costs and many charge according to how much time they will be there for. How long do people recommend and how much should that cost? I don’t need the getting ready pics, its a catholic wedding (mass), and we have the reception venue for 5 hours and I haven’t figured out how much time to put between the ceremony and reception (advice on this would be appreciated as well). Any thoughts on how long?

We are probably going to pay $1000-$1500 for 3-5 hours, and it’s a really hefty package in terms of what we get (portraits, prints, proof album, CD and licensing). I figured we’d just get pictures for the ceremony, and then the key moments at the reception and send them on their way. We’d like pictures of the rest of the day too but we are perfectly capable of taking those sorts of shots ourselves, when you’re on a budget you really only need a professional for the key moments and portraits if you want them. Your relatives with digital cameras I’m sure would happily supplement your professional shots for your wedding album.

My parents don’t have any wedding pictures but a portrait of them together after the ceremony, and one of my older sister who was the flower girl. They hang together in our family room and they’ve never lamented about it, the amount of photos you need really depends on you.

if anyone could please share their stories of finance i would greatly appreciate it. Im looking for a small wedding probly about 50 guests. and to rent a hall. booze, and a small dinner. I have a photographer and ill have to buy a dress too. any tips, suggestions, stories or even numbers would be greatly appreciated. im just afraid that i will never be able to afford this bloody wedding!
oh god. lol im in canada as well. would eloping be cheaper?

2,000 – 3,000 with the help of the family.

Good luck!

how much should I expect to pay for a wedding photographer in Portland, Oregon? (we just changed our date to September instead of November, so we don’t have much time to get someone lined up)

That really all depends. I ahve 2 brothers who are both married. one spend 1200 and the other spent 700. the one who spnt 1200 the photographer forgot to take the grooms side of the family and the one who spent 700 even got included was a dvd of all engagement and wedding pix. Just spend 2 days callin and getting prices and what all that it includes and i bet u will find a great one

Hi, I am looking to get married in Key West in 2011. I am clueless. Can anyone tell me what an average wedding there would cost and any good ideas where to go?

It’s impossible to predict this. The economy is in such rough shape that it could cost as little as a couple of hundred dollars by then or it could cost you a couple of hundred thousand dollars because you’ve also not really said what kind of ceremony you want and what would be included in the cost.

Just save up as much money as you possibly can and when the day comes closer, call a place down there and get an estimate. On top of everything else, anywhere you call right now could very easily not even be around due to hurricane devastation that hasn’t occurred yet.

I am planning a low budget wedding..
Is the dress really the most important part of it?
How much did your wedding dress cost??
How much would a decent/beautiful one cost??
No rentals please… i’m keeping mine (which i haven’t bought)

i spent $800+ on my gown. it is more expensive then i really wanted, but just like the old saying goes. you get what you pay for.

a davids bridal dress can run in the low hundreds, but the dresses are mass produced and they wrinkle really easily and frankly are not all that good looking and probably 50 brides have tried that dress on before you.

Maggie Sottero makes very nice dresses that are good mid range. i got my first dress from her and it was around $600, the only problem i found is that it wrinkles really easy and the embroidery is really delicate. but her dresses are nice. (i have to sell it cause it’s from a wedding that never happened and i’m to big for it now XD

my new dress for my coming up wedding i bought a Mori Lee which ran me over $800 but the dress is of a quality i have never seen. the dress that i tried on in the store is stored in the plastic bad and every time we pull the try on dress out there is not a single wrinkle on it. the dress is very sturdy and even though the skirt has two layers of organza on it and very intricate beading i don’t really fear i have to worry about tearing it or loosing the beads.

so you may end up spending more but you won’t regret it in the end. i would find a dress you like and of good quality.

Looking to find an average cost for a wedding coordinator to arrange a relatively small wedding (50 guests and under).

The wedding planner can range from 500 dollars to 3000 depending on their experience and what they will be responsible for. They usually charge either by the hour, by the percentage total of wedding or a flat fee. Whatever the cost, they are well worth it. A good wedding planner though expensive may save you money, as they will compare vendors etc.

This is a research video I created for my senior image making class. I was busy planning a wedding at the time, so the topic was quite relevant. Unfortunately, to fit it on here, I had to cut down the size, so I appologize for the difficulty in reading it.

I and my boyfriend got engaged lately and planning to have a wedding.
Due to budget, we cannot afford a big wedding; we areplanning to have a small wedding with direct family members and close friends.
The problem is, we live in the middle point of both parents and frinends.
We decided to do so when we sarted to take our relationship seriously for fairness.
So now the question is are we supposed to pay for the traveling costs for the guests coming to our wedding?
If we did, it’s gonna cost more than the wedding itself. It is going to be $400 per guest at least.
Honestly, we cannot afford it.
Should we still manage to pay for those or how can we tell them about tavel costs?
Everybody know we are on tight budget and show understanding,
but some people still asking us if we are paying for the flights.
How to deal with it? Maybe we just shouldn’t have wedding at all?
Any suggestions or ideas appreciated.

I absolutely do not think that you should have to pay for your guests’ transportation to your wedding. I have only really heard of very wealthy families doing that.

I am from IL and come from a mid-class family. None of my family members have ever paid our transportation to a wedding for their son or daughter. My parents have traveled as far as Boston and Idaho for nieces and nephews weddings on their own dime.

Honestly, I think it is a lot to ask for you to pay the travel expenses of others. A lot of people where I am from won’t even pay for an open bar, let alone travel. You should not have to begin your married life with a buttload of debt.

Hopefully, some of them can ride together and share expenses.

I wanna have my wedding outside (June wedding) at a park somewhere. & for the reception, I would rather just have a BBQ at the same park. but then, if people wanna drink Alcohol then I will have to find a Reception hall. though if anyone know’s where I can rent a cheap Hall for the reception, that would be great. I live in Hobart, IN.

You don’t have to have alcohol. If you are doing a cook out you just need to buy in bulk the items you need for a BBQ and have someone cook. You could have it catered but the park lends itself to folks just cooking out for you. That could just be a couple hundred dollars for food and supplies. Caterers usually charge either a set amount for x number of dinners or x amount for a buffet. I’d be looking at a bare minimum of 15 a head if you were going the route of catering.

I was wondering…how much does an average wedding singer cost for just the ceremony alone?
in Illinois…btw.

Couple hundred. It depends on how good they are and where you live.
