I want my wedding to be outside somewhere. A small wedding, maybe 75 to 100 people(is that a lot?). Dont know about the reception. I’m talking like everything though including the dress and stuff. I want to start my wedding savings fund but I don’t even know how much I should be trying to save. Thanks in advance!

My wife and I got married this last summer and managed to do most everything ourselves for under $6000. This included hall rental for the reception, the food for it, the cake, her dress and everything else.

We also had an outdoor wedding, it was spectacular.

I have been engaged for a year now and i want to start saving for a wedding i want quite a big one with an exotic honeymoon how much do you think the whole thing will cost roughly?

Weddings come in all shapes, sizes and price ranges!!!!

How much you wedding costs ranges on where you live, the number of guests you have and the formality of your event.

The average for weddings is 27K, I believe. But, that depends on where you live.

I’m from a suburb in the Northeast, it costs at least 18K-20K to have a basic buffet style dinner for 100-130 people. Plus, the dress, pictures, etc. The cheapest I’ve seen around here is $75 per person. Although, I did see a place about 1 1/2 -2 hours away from me, it was like $60 a plate. Which is unheard of here. But, it was way to far for us to travel and for the guests to travel.

Again, that’s where I live. I’ve seen people from other states post and say they are paying $45-$50 a head.

It really is regional.

Planning a wedding on a small budget can be done using a bride share method, where two brides split the cost of decorations, flowers or chair rentals. Consider having a wedding on a non-weekend to cut costs with creative ideas from an event coordinator in this free video on weddings.

hi, i’m getting married in november and a family member has offered to do the buffet at the evening reception for 120 people. Its going to be a cold buffet. the usual, sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls etc. I need an idea of how much its going to cost please. we have a very low budget so don’t want to be spending hundreds of pounds 🙂 whats the cheapest we could do it?

about £2.50 per head @ the hotel i work at i can do a buffet for 60 people for about £1.50 per head all you have got to do is shop around
farm foods is relay good & b&m bargains if you have one near you.
but what ever you do don’t use cheap bread for your sandwiches, have a great day pc try not to use iceland they are well over priced

I think most people would say it depends on what you want, how many people you are inviting, venue, food, etc. On average, i have heard that a wedding cost around 20,000. But this really depends on how much you want to spend. I think 20,000 is the national average and you can use that as a base.

Wedding Budget 20,000
Dress – 1,500
Church/Venue – 1,000
Flowers – 1,000

That’s just an example and you can work your way down.. i’m sure you can have it cheaper or more depending on what your ideal wedding is.

In a hotel on Michigan Avenue or a warehouse venue?

A downtown hotel will run you AT LEAST $120 a person, you might count on $150. Warehouse spaces will be budgeted differently, as you’ll have to piece out catering, decorating, alcohol, wait staff, tables, linens, china/silverware, insurance, venue rental fee, etc. (the hotels will roll that into one number). You’re still probably looking at about the same as the hotel. Keep in mind that places book early, especially over holiday weekends. If you’re thinking Labor Day, 2009, you’re probably already too late–some of the venues we looked at booked 15 months ahead.

I am not asking this to be snarky, I am genuinely curious. I notice alot of mentioning of kegs at wedding and I am wondering how does that work? Do you have guests help themselves and pump the keg? Or do you have a bartender dole them out? It seems like a lot of work to put a bartender through, I mean draft beer is not nearly as fast as bottled. Is it a cost thing or do you prefer draft beer?

I think it’s definitely a cost thing. Keg beer is cheaper than bottled beer. I would have a bartender serve it unless your wedding is a very casual outdoor wedding where guests would help themselves to drinks. You don’t need to pump the keg after every serving and I think the more it’s flowing, the less pumping you have to do. It’s probably no more work than a bartender having to remove bottle caps off of the bottles.

my guy just wants 2 run off and get married i have never been married officially and neither has he. would settle for a wedding/reception at our farm still would love a church wedding. so how much more would us having a traditional church wedding cost?

if you are a member of a church, they usually look for just a donation to the church to perform the ceremony… however, you will have to provide all the decorations and heed to their restrictions.. no money savings there really…. i love that you live on a farm… i am doing an at home wedding myself… 10/10/09… we live in a small historical town in the south and are blessed with a beautiful historic home in the heart of the downtown area… live oaks bigger around than you can reach, moss hanging from the trees, year round blooming trees, true southern ambiance. our wedding is going to cost around 3700.00 total… the venue is free but that is the end of the savings… we still have to decorate, but we are using our surroundings to benefit us… we are doing white twinkle lights in the bushes that totally enclose our yard ( front and back ) lots of tulle ( and i mean lots!! i can send you a link to low cost tulle if you like ) and we ( not really we.. i ( : ) chose white daisies as our flowers which are in full bloom late summer and early fall ( check the season of the flowers you pick, they can be costly if they are not in season when you plan to marry ). we are doing heavy appetizers and an open bar… the food and liquor looks to be the most expensive part of the wedding…

Your wedding day is a whirlwind of activity and emotion. When you hire a photographer, you’re trusting his watchful eye will beautifully capture all the moments of your experience.

But talent is only part of the picture. It’s just as important to have someone who is focused on your best interests and who can work right alongside you and keep stress to a minimum.

Here are some things I think are important:

Keep the negatives. Always, no exceptions, and at no extra cost.

FILM vs. DIGITAL — We believe you should always shoot on film, as the end results are always of a much higher quality. However, we also understand that digital photography is important, so we give you both photo negatives and CDs.

Don’t be forced into a package. Every wedding is unique and no one knows what you want better than you.

Find out who will be there. I shoot your wedding-not my assistant-start to finish.

I can travel to where you want to have your wedding-nationally.

Genuinely like the photographer. Nice is as important as talented when you’re spending 8-plus hours with somebody.

Make sure he’s available after the wedding, too. The photographer can be a great help when you’re looking at proofs.

Don’t pay more for black & white. The difference between it and color film is only about a dollar per role.

Don’t hire by the hour. If you set no time limit, the slower he goes the more he makes. If you do, you’ll be rushing to get your pictures taken.

Get a complete list of costs up front. Weddings are expensive enough, this is no time for surprises.

Don’t feel pressure to buy an album. You’re hiring the photographer for his skills, not his merchandise.

Don’t pay extra for travel within reason.

Ask about equipment. The best photographers use a variety.

Beware of square proofs. It’s an indication that a photographer’s equipment is out of date.

Ask for references. Word of mouth is the best advertising.

In fact, ask any question at all. No matter how small. Questions are important. You haven’t done this before, so no question can be too small or stupid.

Serving the entire San Francisco Bay Area for Wedding Photography and Videography. You get the best of both worlds utilizing both film and digital. Everything from your wedding day and engagement poses to the best man’s toast…

The bakery said to save on cost, they can make cake to feed 20 people then for the rest of 30 of them- have a sheet cake… but how do they do it? do they make their cake- and then put the sheet cake underneath so it all looks like together? or do they feed the 20 people, then go get a sheet cake- and serve that up??

They will have the 2-tier wedding cake out in the reception hall for all to see, and keep the sheet cake in the back to simply cut and serve.
